what she say
[y'know, with less wordage, and more doodling]
What I want -- my ambition -- is larger than anyone imagines. I want to be able to write so powerfully I can break the heart of the world and heal it. I want to write in such a way as to literally remake the world, to change people's thinking as the look out of the eyes of the characters I create.

happy birthday 2: your birthday sounds awesome. as i was reading the description the first time, i kept expecting you to say, "and unicorns," in the list of stuff you saw. i will definitely consult you on all things meat from now on.

hippo birdy to me [mar 24]
tanks to dees and bleu, i am sleepily recovering from an extravagantly fun filled weekend...
first there was friday night with a massage -- shiatsu, which evidently means "no pain no gain" -- luckily, they forgot the thumb screws. and truth be told, i loved it. then, dinner with dees at fattoush, my favorite middle eastern restaurant ever.
then onto monterey with dees, bleu, satchmo, baskie and minabelle [the packing had me a little stressed -- for some reason every trip is las muertes chiquitas, a small death, but we managed...]. thoughtfully, the entire trip was planned around satch-the-moley-wole [yay!].
and in lovely monterey, there was sunshine [yay!] and kayaking -- which involved spurts of upper body exercise, mixed with a healthy dose of drifting along idly past gorgeous flora and fauna -- I don't think I've seen so many sea otters, herons, brown pelicans, and jellyfish in my life. we did our best to keep our distance, but they were everywhere. and the otters reminded me of satchmo, so staying away took some effort.
and you know it's love, if a [mostly] vegetarian takes you out for a meat fest! we met up with emylene and roach and friend [nice fellow from toronto] at this swanky place which included an amazing platter of raw meat [wrapped in clingfilm, to my relief] that was used as the visuals for a very informative lesson in meat. now I know the difference between a porterhouse and a t-bone steak [both have filet mignon and ny strip steak -- the porterhouse has to have at least 3 inches of f.m.] -- and after a full evening there, we could almost give the spiel. a truly worthy meat experience.
the hotel was right on seaside state beach -- so the next morning when satch woke me at the crack of dawn, we wandered to the beach. not only were we the first people on the beach, but we were in time to catch a rainbow and several otters and dolphins eating breakfast. the dolphins were magical in that authentic, too bad disney overuses it, kinda way. found myself peacefully sitting on the beach with satchmo, just enjoying the view. ...
las muertes grandotas
sigh. if pre-trip anxiety is a small death, then satchmo's illness are the large deaths I have to face every day. moley is stumbling around after another seizure. the further birthday tales (and the horseback riding was something!) will have to wait. wish us luck, and keep us in your thoughts...

lookit this
some germans are linking to me apparently they are interested in my 404 page. is that a good thing? (when the most interesting part of your site is the error page, something must be amiss, eh?) anyone know german?
oh wait, try it with babel fish -- just enter "http://www.knuddel.net/tips/tipsundtricks.htm" as the url to be translated. ...
cool links and shit
browsing referral urls, and i'm coming up with some cool shit. lotsa trash out there too, but thought i'd list the cool shit (for me as much as for you):
:. fontomas -- free and gorgeous fonts. just grab 'em while you can.
:. reservocation -- interesting blog with some great links.
:. eyesaw another fab batch of fonts on a visually stunning background of webshtick. not for the low browser version aficionado.
:. what time is it?

satchmo stout
had a lovely evening out with an old friend and a fine satchmo vintage (makes me say "BevMo!").
realized (for the first time) that the 80's were 20 years ago (which is astounding as it's only been a coupla years since I was there). found a likeminded sensible person who understands that everything pre-30's was just foolishness and preparation. also, any evening where more than one person insists on buying dinner is a good night out. ...
prime
about to be a prime number again for the first time since 1993. can't wait! ...
next to dogly-ness
finally did laundry. even drove to the damn laundromat. it's been so long that it was almost as good as shopping (lookit all the new clothes!). and the simple bliss of clean sheets and underwear...

moley b-day: march 21, 2001!!!
I never thought we'd get here together. she enjoyed her chicken, slept at the beach, and continued with admirably firm poops.

rotating outage block 10
things on the moley front are, as always, up and down. it's getting harder to tell if it's the tumor or the drugs, but that's becoming immaterial (as we need more and more drugs to prevent the seizures).
she's been a trooper and has been on a coupla pretty large walks the last few days. i'm happily sunburnt, and she's snoozing nearby.
this weather has been great -- even our power outage yesterday (for about four hours!), couldn't ruin the summer bliss (oh to be good and hot again!). finished Amy Tan's The Bonesetter's Daughter despite trying to read it slowly. been sleeping at the beach the last few days, turning brown again at last. saw the Debut this weekend -- a good indie flick that you should all support and get out to see if you can (only a few days left in SF, and it's been selling out every night!).
and thanks (I think) to jill, who sent me the IRS Form 1040.com -- now i don't have any excuses for putting it off.

famous wee
apparently my cousin's part of the hp's ad campaign. dude, that is just so cool. she's the reason my friend kris and played ice hockey in college. of course, I never got skating backwards down, so I mainly played forward ("whooooah! crash! shit! @#$!!"). it's a great sport, and she's insanely good (our team played her once, she beat us all by herself. ok, not quite, but you get the idea).
i've never had an older sister, so i guess this is my aw shucks version of looking up to someone. undoubtedly, this will lead to more goading from my parents for me to get a real job. but then, so does breathing. woohoo! i'm all exhilarated. hell, i'm all related and shit. pretty cool.
check out the tv ads online and view the print ads.

ewee - hope you and your girl are together today. it's a beautiful day to be the friend of a satch. gorgeous 'replacements' lyrics below - nice post, wendy.
chalk up another temptation island phreak here - the salon reviews are better than the show anyway. sometimes SF, tiny as it is, feels this way.
ewee, you dance - I've seen you do it. do you still?

tail swallowing
still on that roller coaster. revisiting salon brought me to this article on "not swallowing your own tail" as they so eloquently put it (oh, those writer types!). nice bit to chew on.
moley had another seizure this morning. lisa's come to my rescue and is watching satch. I'm at work, and my deadly calm is only cracking from time to time.
but. i. must. werk. can. not. crack. yet. ...
serves me right
AND to add insult to injury, temptation island was a bust. no vicarious thrill from watching the destruction of other people's lives. the vulturous (did I just coin a word or destroy one?) side of me that preyed on this stupid reality show is awfully upset...
