more browsing
[and again, this is werk. if i gotta check the @#$&! links, i might as well pass along the interesting ones...]
- tvbgone the ultimate power...[now it doesn't really matter who hogs the remote].
- got gmail? want it? wanna donate your invites? quirky, more than a little dorky, but essentially cool.

illness-shmillness
sheesh. i've been sick for most of march. i wanna be done now. the month is over. can i be done now? please? my friend at the health dept (who regales me with funny/gross stories about our fine eating establishments) told me that they try and figure out what the flu strains will be before every year (thus the flu shots of varying efficacy). maybe they can use me to give them all the germs. it feels like i've gotten a good cross section of the different strains this year.

today's browsing
[and the best part is, i'm getting paid to check these links...]
- good use of gmail: use your gmail for storage! (not good for critical projects, but good use of 1 GB!)
- word count: yet another geeky pleasure...
- see through word: for those of us who miss the nonvisual interfaces of yore.

the sky is falling! -- scared yet? (get the feeling that we should be? or that we're supposed to be?) well, how about a geography lesson or a 15 year-long battle?

the grace lee project
so i missed this film in this year's film fest (and i even had tix!...oh well, missing a film seems to be de rigueur for me).
but it's a pretty hilarious concept -- a mix of how our names define us (or not), and how people conceptualize people (specifically my people?). thing is, i kinda had the opposite name thing -- i wasn't a kim, lee, or park, and damn if my name wasn't the weirdest one in the name book (no, it's not short for elizabeth, no it's not alyssa). but somewhere along the way, i stopped wanting to be mary lemon (the incongruous, but most normal sounding name i'd ever heard, remarkably for an asian kid in my grade school), and kinda got attached to my pain-in-the-ass name. even when i got hitched, and could've ditched the ridicule and nonsensical rhyming factor, i found that i had no desire to leave my name behind.
...hopefully i'll catch the film some other time (hear that judy?)

it's officially a week before i hit the big 3-5 -- guess that makes me over the hill, or a least hitting the peak of the hill. looks like the view is pretty good from here. here's to the next bits and new adventures and good changes... ...

inspirational anxiety
got all excited about mail art -- cleaning house, and mailing out random packages to people (music, journals, whatnot). got a cool piece of art from mr. pf (have to send it along, so mebbe you'll get it next). heard from miz g that there's a guy in sf that will perforate your stamp-sized art for free (still looking for that link) and then I stumbled across these:
- "We will be having another mail art exhibit on ANXIETY in the fall of 2005. Send your postcards about anxiety, 4 by 6 inches, all media accepted. An exhibit will be held. Documentation will be sent to everyone who participates. Send your mail art pieces to: MHA, PO Box 2021, Hutchinson KS 67504-2021 USA. Deadline is September 12, 2005." (examples from last year's exhibit on depression.)
- the spark! episode on mail art
- 2001 mail art show on cheju-do (jeju island) in south korea. (i think john held, jr. is the guy with the perforator...)
- the 1000journals project -- i guess great minds think alike?
- nervousness.org with a name like that...
- 20things -- you all know how much i looooove things.
aaah! i'm sooo excited, i could just about explode. time to get crafty (well, after werk...). this is a really good time for all this -- life is feeling pretty high anxiety right about now...
