urgh
opened my email tonight to this from miz bleu:
"after a year and one month of battling cancer, my mom
passed away on december 16, 2002.
she died at home, lying comfortably on the couch;
amazingly perfect, peaceful, and incredibly beautiful."

macythepointyheadedreddog
she's gone. one of satch's oldest friends. the first journalist pup i ever knew ("i will not be silenced! me! listen! my needs! tennis ball! ball! ball! BALL!"). the reddest dog, and the craziest about tennis balls i'd ever met -- she could smell them ANYWHERE -- inside, under, outside -- and she'd sit there and bark till you got the ball out. and she was always right. under the couch. behind the cupboard. even inside the damn dresser drawer. even throwing it outside didn't work. she'd just bark at the damn door till you'd relent (everyone relented sooner or later).
funny thing, the only two places she couldn't smell them? in kelly's car, and in the freezer. so we always had tennis balls in the freezer at cherry street.
macy-macer-mace-marley-solodog-piercingbarkdog-ohmigawdmigranedog passed away from liver cancer at the ripe old age of 12-and-a-half on tuesday, december 17th, 2002. she went quickly, and managed to live her life as a crazy pup till the very end. kelly sez that she was playing in an ice storm just days before, and i can hear her bark till this day...
she is well loved -- and will be greatly missed. ...
couldn't find any macy photos, and got looking at satchmo photos, and just got incredibly sad...

chronic neuroses
too busy to properly chronicle the day-to-day neuroses that is my life. a few clarifications. i have moved, and will move again. so, for the first time in, oh, seven million years, i'm unlisted. email me (ewee AT dogmo.com), and i'll send you all the updated info.
second clarification: yes. dees = lisa. i have not been two-timing her and writing about it here. sorry. (note: to those of you who might worry that i apologize too much -- i'm not really sorry at all, so stop worrying) ...
...and why do we care?
actually, i'd just finished convincing myself that this blog was just a lovely way of blathering on to myself, when lo and behold, who should appear, but dear dear kelly o! and it turns out that she used my blog to figure out (kinda) where i'm at and how she might reach me (also kinda -- thus the clarifications above). so, appropos of something, she turned up at 1am, and we hung out till about 5:30am and then passed out for much too little sleep before i had to return her to her happy nuclear family christmas. alas. it was a perfectly typical random night, with the usual dosage of good company, good conversation, and a hefty helping of sleep deprivation. all we need is a road trip and the addition of some wacky characters (kathy couch, you out there???).
nice to remember that where i am is not all i am.

post partem humbug
aah. dishes are finally done (mostly) from last night's wonderful shindig. with any luck, jill will post her photos, as i was sporting a disposable nondigital camera all night (i am sooo low tech right now...).
our little apartment was crammed full of wacky people making wacky ornaments for our tree. the clothespin people were quite a hit -- everything from a hairy disco queen and siamese drag queens to gorgeous bugs and an odd assortment of dog portraits by the pajama crew. miz d and amyc came bearing a little puppy, but we couldn't get him/her to sit still on the tree long enough to glue her there. dees made tons of pasta and cookies and other edible delights, and m's friend muriel left bedecked in a lovely crown, bearing shrinky dinks and left behind some tempting gifties (!!). there was much less swearing than expected from the boston crowd, but they made up for it on the ride home (some sort of rock 'n roll obscurity contest). i don't think i finished more than one thing (being totally distracted by everything), but it was a fun evening...

bah humbuggy
More than a bit disappointed in the powers that be at my previous jobbie. Turns out that they -- just before gutting people's hours and laying people off -- posted job listings on craig's list. So tired of mean blackhearted soulless folk. Nothing like layoffs and job cuts in the week or two before Christmas, eh?
